Matt Kaden brings nearly 20 years of executive and strategic advisory expertise in the fashion and retail industries. He excels at strategy formulation, qualitative and quantitative analyses and corporate development for apparel, footwear, accessories, jewelry, home furnishings and related consumer product and service businesses. He is particularly well-versed in helping firms navigate through the confluence of fashion and technology, especially digital commerce.
Mr. Kaden co-founded his own firm, Matter Strategic Advisors, which focused on helping companies strategically plan for business growth or exit. At Matter, he facilitated strategic partnerships, including M&A, joint ventures and creative licensing to solve complex business challenges for his clients. It was during this time that he forged a strong working partnership with MMG.
Mr. Kaden began his career at Macy's East esteemed Executive Training Program. After Macy’s, he joined Kellwood Company's Lifestyle Alliance, the largest division of the then $2.5 billion publicly traded wholesale apparel and consumer products company. He held roles in finance and strategic management, where he evaluated acquisition opportunities.
After Kellwood, Mr. Kaden joined Jones Apparel Group as a Planning Analyst for the largest division of the nearly $4 billion publicly traded company. At the same time, he spent his nights and weekends completing his MBA and applying his studies directly to an ever-changing industry. Armed with his MBA and a well-rounded retail/wholesale background in planning, finance and strategy, he joined Avalon Net Worth as a Director, where he advised consumer product companies primarily on sell-side M&A, strategic partnerships and licensing transactions.
Mr. Kaden is a member of The Expert Network of the New York Fashion Tech Lab, a mentor for both XRC Labs and Trendseeder, on the Leadership Committee of Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York - Accountant & Banker's Division, an Executive Committee Member of ORT America Accountants, Attorneys & Financial Services Chapter (on the Board of the Leadership Division), in addition to being involved with a number of industry professional associations.
Mr. Kaden received his BS in Marketing from The Pennsylvania State University’s Smeal College of Business and MBA from CUNY Baruch's Zicklin School of Business.
